Costa Rica is located in Central America. Its area slightly exceeds that of Vermont and New Hampshire combined.
Costa Rica lies between Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the south, the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Caribbean Sea to the east. Costa Rica is one of the most stable and prosperous countries in Latin America despite the fact that it permanently abolished it’s army in 1949. Which made it is the first and one of the few sovereign nations without a standing army.
Costa Rica is ranked as one of the most visited international destinations. It is a democratic and peaceful country and one of it’s main sources of income is tourism. It possesses a high standard for services, social and political stability and has consistently been among the top-ranking Latin American countries in the Human Development Index (HDI).
